Dual celebration for Singita Pamushana
29 April 2009
Singita’s Pamushana Lodge in the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in South Eastern Zimbabwe this week celebrated a double bout of good news with the announcement of its inclusion on the coveted Condé Nast Traveler annual ‘Hot List’ for 2009, preceded by news that the travel ban on Zimbabwe has been lifted in the USA and other countries.
Often referred to as ‘one of Southern Africa’s best kept secrets’, Singita Pamushana is located on 130 000 acres of the most pristine, unspoilt wilderness reserves in the world. The latest addition to Singita’s illustrious portfolio of award-winning safari destinations, this Relais & Chateaux property re-opened in June 2008 after extensive refurbishment of the interiors by Cecile & Boyd, and is now within easy reach via a convenient, 2-hour direct flight from Johannesburg.
‘The lifting of the USA travel ban to Zimbabwe bodes well for Singita Pamushana, and forward bookings are looking encouraging with more and more South African and international guests seeking to explore this unspoilt gem, which offers a wilderness experience unlike any other’, says Singita Group Sales & Marketing Manager Lindy Rousseau. ‘We are also thrilled with the inclusion of Singita Pamushana on the Condè Nast Traveler ‘Hot List’ for the first time, especially in the company of other prestigious African and Middle East destinations such as The Palm in Dubai, the Four Seasons Resort in Mauritius, the Cape Grace Hotel and the Dock House Boutique Hotel & Spa on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront’.
Now in its 13th year, the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler ‘Hot List’ is considered the ultimate guide for the well-heeled and experienced traveler, directing its readers to the hottest new destinations around the world.
Singita Pamushana comprises six luxurious suites and a magnificent 5-bedroomed villa, and is perched high against sandstone cliffs with breathtaking views across the Malilangwe Lake. Here an astonishing variety of birds and abundance of wildlife thrive - most notable rare and endangered species including black rhino and wild dog. In line with Singita’s core ethos, which dictates minimum impact on the land and wildlife at all their lodges and reserves, Singita Pamushana is involved in a number of community development and conservation initiatives. These are spearheaded by the Malilangwe Trust that currently feeds over 22 000 school children daily. The Malilangwe Trust is also recognized for its significant conservation efforts, and in particular the ecological research, breeding and protection of endangered species.
