Horse Riding
Singita Grumeti Reserves Equestrian Centre offers a unique bush experience to intermediate riders and above. Daily out rides from Singita Sasakwa Lodge are available for intermediate and advanced riders.
Enjoy the thrills and adventure of our two or three day riding safaris operating between Singita Sasakwa Lodge and Singita Faru Faru lodge, cantering amongst the game across the wide open Serengeti plains to the tree lined Grumeti River.
Non riders are welcome and will be offered game drives plus all the facilities of the lodges.
Horses - There is a herd of 18 horses consisting of the South African Boerperd, an indigenous African breed, Thoroughbreds and a variety of cross breeds ranging from 15hh to 17hh. Our horses are selected carefully for their temperament and comfortable paces. They are well schooled and of a very high standard.
Tack - The tack is all top quality leather and riders can choose between English, Western or South African trail saddles.
Singita Explore and 3 day Safari Rides - Led by experienced guides, the riding pace is moderate to fast and up to 6 hours riding per day.
Required Ability - Riders must be able to control their horses at all paces over variable terrain.
Maximum Weight - 220Lbs/ 100Kg. We do have a few bigger horses and riders over this weight can discuss riding options with the Equestrian team.
Age - 14 and over. We may take younger riders depending on their experience and ability. Parents of younger riders can discuss riding options with the Equestrian team.
Riding equipment - We have the following riding equipment for your use: Breeches, Jodhpur boots, gloves, full and half length chaps, riding hats and back supports.

Dry river beds, dried out drainage lines, dust bowls instead of water holes; these are things of the past. All of the rivers and drainage lines are flowing in full spate and the water holes are filled to capacity.
