The six-month Singita Field
Guide Training Academy programme run from
Singita Sabi Sand, has proved to be a great
success. The course covers all areas of field
guiding from teaching an in-depth understanding
of all flora and fauna, to equipping guides
with a few tips on how to deal with tourists.
The course also includes training in weapon
handling, first aid and a wine course to a
certification level by the Cape Wine Academy.
Trainee guides are sent from all the Singita
properties in Africa to attend this course,
which is beneficial to all concerned. Alan
Yeowart, head of the Guide Training and Development
department says “With the expansion
of
eco-systems covered within the various properties,
it has proved to be a tremendously interesting
learning process for all of us, as we come
to terms with the massive diversity that is
now offered within the Singita circuit. “ |
